WFPK Waterfront Wednesday will go on as scheduled tomorrow evening, Wednesday, September 26th. While the Ohio River is rising, it will not affect the event’s venue, the Big Four® Lawn, which is elevated well above the expected crest of 6’ above normal pool. Waterfront Park is in good shape, despite the recent heavy rains.
Heavy infrastructure will be moved to hard surfaces to help protect the grass from vehicular traffic. The forecast calls for the rain to end by Wednesday morning, and music fans will be able to enjoy great music and seasonal special food and drink on a pleasant autumn evening at Waterfront Park.
The event opens at 5pm and music starts at 6pm. The September 26th artists are:
6pm – Love Jones
7:30pm – The Artisanals
9pm – Car Seat Headrest
The Republic Bank Easy Ride Trolley De Ville will offer free trolley service between Witherspoon and the event site from 6-10 p.m. Parkside Bikes will have bike parking on-site.
The 90.5 WUOL Classical Corner, led by Louisville Public Media’s Music Education Manager Jecorey Arthur, will feature hands-on activities, performances and games from 5:00-7:30 PM. Partners will be onsite from KMAC, Drumsmart, Squallis Puppeteers, Compass Quartet, Louisville Folk School, Mom’s Music & Maxwellsounds, and Louisville Academy of Music. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
WFPK Waterfront Wednesday is produced by Louisville Public Media and the Waterfront Development Corporation. The event is made possible by the generous support of Goose Island Brewing Company, Republic Bank, Passport Health Plan and Toyota.
Special thanks to Friends of the Waterfront.
